The history of Vignobles Bardet begins on the banks of the Garonne in 1704.
Mr. Seigneriau is a boatman: he loads his barge with barrels of wine which he then resells in the merchant port of the Parish of St-Brice de Vignonet. St-Brice de Vignonet becomes a
Mecca of the wine trade and the family
Seigneriau invests
in the vineyard. The development of the railways causes the
end of the bargeman activity and allows the Seigneriau family to
devote exclusively to the cultivation of the vine.
In the 1920s, Mathilde Roy, granddaughter of Monsieur Seigneriau, married Henri-Gabriel Bardet, founder of the Château
Val d'Or Saint Emilion Grand Cru. In 1962, their son, Roger Bardet, founded Château Pontet-Fumet in the Saint-Émilion Grand Cru appellation.
