The roots of the estate go much further back, to 1783, an era marked by the rise of the Enlightenment and the cultivation of the French language and thought under the reign of Louis XV. It was at this time that the first cellars were dug in Mesnil-sur-Oger, a place that has today become synonymous with high wine quality.
Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, or more simply "Le Mesnil" for connoisseurs, is a grand cru village among the 17 classified villages of Champagne, and in the opinion of experts, it is the most prestigious of all. In the immediate vicinity of the Clos de Krug lands and the famous Salon, the Gonet estate benefits from an exceptional terroir, recognized for its unique purity and minerality, which give the champagnes an incomparable identity.
