Know a bit more about the domain

Montfaucon Castle, dating from the Middle Ages (around 1420), has an original triangular shape which has stood the test of time. In 1420, the king conferred the title of baron on the domain. The famous cellar, built in 1520, was used for winemaking until 1936, before new cellars were established elsewhere.

In 1657, Montfaucon contributed to the development of the *Côtes du Rhône* by prohibiting the incorporation of foreign grapes into their wines. In 1737, the king formalized this approach with the mention *C.D.R.* on the barrels. The castle was destroyed during the Wars of Religion before being rebuilt in 1880 with a Scottish-style facade by Baron Louis.

After decades where the grapes were sold in cooperatives, Rodolphe de Pins, heir in 1995, initiated the production of his own vintages after agricultural studies in France and California. The estate today extends over 60 hectares, with a particular emphasis on finesse and precision in their red and white wines, made from old historic vines.
