Chateau de Fargues - Lur Saluces - 1996 - Sauternes

White wine

Description

A beautiful golden-orange, coppery color.
On the nose, a dominant of acacia, broom and candied lemon enveloped by candied orange aromas with a small spicy final touch.
The mouth opens with a nice, slightly creamy volume, then freshness and liveliness take precedence before a saline finish and a gentle bitterness. Stewed and candied fruits, quince paste, apricot skin mingle with refreshing flavors.
A perfect balance between sweetness and acidity giving it a lovely freshness.

Know a bit more about the domain

Since their ancestor Françoise-Joséphine who decided on the advent of the harvest by successive sorting, to Bertrand who was at the birth of the AOC and to Alexandre who presided over the destinies of Yquem for a long time, the Lur Saluces are inseparable from these great Sauternes wines.
In the 1920s, Bertrand de Lur Saluces, uncle of Alexandre, current owner of Château de Fargues, made the decision to abandon the production of red vines to devote himself exclusively to the production of a great Sauternes wine. He undertook slow and expensive work to completely replant the Fargues plot with the appellation's grape varieties, Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc.
Even today, the same desire for quality, rigor and the same ethics continue.
Fargues wine embodies the entrepreneurial spirit and sense of risk and creativity of Lur Saluces.
