The year 1994 was marked by an exceptionally hot and dry summer, conducive to rapid and even ripening of the grapes. This particularly favorable weather led to a white wine of rare richness, combining aromatic concentration and balanced structure.
The color today presents a deep gold hue with amber highlights, reflecting its evolution in the bottle.
On the nose, the bouquet is intense and complex. It reveals notes of candied exotic fruits (pineapple, mango), blended with aromas of ripe citrus, beeswax, and dried flowers. Upon aeration, subtle touches of vanilla, honey, and a hint of white truffle emerge, characteristic of a great mature white wine.
On the palate, the attack is full-bodied, round, and remarkably rich. The concentration achieved thanks to the exceptional climatic conditions of the year gives the wine an almost creamy texture, without weighing down the tasting experience. A lovely mid-palate tension balances the wine, supported by a subtle, still-present acidity.
The finish is long and persistent, marked by honeyed and mineral notes.

The Château Margaux estate, once owned by Edward III of England, and later by the d'Albret and Montferrand families, retained its military vocation until 1802, when the Marquis de La Clonilla had the fortress razed and the current residence built, designed by the architect Louis Combe. Until the 1960s, the château produced exceptional wines, including the famous 1900 vintage. In 1977, the Mentzelopoulos family took over and, with the help of Émile Peynaud, the wines regained their status as premier grand cru classé, marking the beginning of a series of remarkable vintages. Paul Pontalier, who oversaw these successes until 2016, leaves an exceptional legacy. Philippe Bascaules, the new director, will continue this tradition. The estate, with its vineyard on gravelly, clay and limestone soil, produces wines with great aging potential, as well as Pavillon Blanc, a fruity white wine, and Pavillon Rouge, its second wine.
