Selection cellar Maison des Millésimes Paris
The color is a deep red with ruby highlights.
The nose is complex and rich. It reveals notes of ripe red fruits, such as black cherry and blackcurrant, accompanied by subtle hints of cedar and tobacco. Slightly spicy aromas (black pepper) and woody notes (toasted oak, vanilla) blend harmoniously with deeper notes of leather and undergrowth.
On the palate, the attack is supple and round, with a beautiful fruity presence of blackcurrant and blackberry. The texture is silky, and the wine quickly reveals a tannic structure that is still very present and offers a beautiful fullness.
Well-balanced, the acidity brings freshness and elegance to the wine, and the black fruit aromas blend with notes of graphite and cocoa, which are typical of the Pauillac terroir. The complexity is marked by very harmonious slightly woody and spicy touches.
The finish is long and persistent, marked by powerful tannins and a lovely sense of freshness. The aromas of ripe fruit and undergrowth linger, leaving an impression of depth and finesse.

The history of Château Lafite Rothschild dates back to the 17th century, when Jacques de Ségur structured the existing vineyard. His son Alexandre, by marrying the heiress of Château Latour in 1695, helped expand the estate. Their son, Nicolas-Alexandre de Ségur, propelled Lafite to the status of a prestigious wine in the 18th century: it was highly prized at Versailles and in England, becoming known as the "wine of kings."
After his death, Lafite changed hands several times, particularly after the Revolution, but its quality remained constant thanks to the care of dedicated stewards. In 1855, Lafite was classified as a Premier Grand Cru Classé.
In 1868, the estate was acquired by Baron James de Rothschild. It has remained in the Rothschild family ever since. The estate owes its exceptional quality to its unique terroir.
After a more difficult period in the 1960s and 1970s, the estate regained its former glory. In 2018, sixth-generation Saskia de Rothschild took over the estate. Committed to a sustainable approach and faithful to the family heritage, she strives to preserve the terroir while innovating: she launches Anseillan, a new cuvée, the first since the 19th century.
