Domaine de la Portanière, located in Pierrefeu-du-Var, dates back to 1838, with the planting of the first vines on the Le Puy plot. At that time, one hectare of traditional grape varieties (Clairette, Grand Noir, Cinsault) was cultivated simply for local consumption.
Since 1850, the estate has been passed down from generation to generation, in the hands of Hilarion Magne's family, who made this Provençal countryside a welcoming and authentic place to live.
Over the decades, the vineyard has expanded to include emblematic plots with evocative names: Jaz, Mamelon, Restanques, Petite Vallée, Grande Pièce, and Virage.
The first bottles were marketed in 1953 under the appellation "Côtes de Provence Domaine du Peyrol."
Today, Domaine de la Portanière is cultivated by the Blancard family. The vineyard covers 13 hectares, entirely classified as "AOC Côtes de Provence", and is in conversion to organic farming, and rosé represents 80% of the Domaine's production.
