At the foot of the majestic Schlossberg hill, nestled among vineyards and roses, Domaine Weinbach, named after the small stream running through the property, was founded in 1612 by Capuchin monks.
Sold as national property during the French Revolution, the estate was acquired in 1898 by the Faller brothers, who passed it on to their son and nephew, Théo. An emblematic figure of the Alsatian vineyard and a fervent advocate for its recognition as an Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée (Controlled Designation of Origin), Théo Faller worked tirelessly to promote the quality of Alsace wines and the development of its unique terroirs and grape varieties. Passionate about his estate, he developed, expanded, and enhanced it over the years.
Since 1979, his wife Colette, along with their daughters Catherine and Laurence, have continued this legacy with the same passion for the great wines of Alsace and an unwavering commitment to quality. In 1998, Domaine Weinbach began practicing biodynamic farming on 8 hectares. The remaining vineyards were cultivated using conventional organic methods. Since the 2005 vintage, the entire vineyard (38 hectares) has been managed biodynamically.
Since 2016, Catherine Faller has managed the estate, supported by her sons Eddy and Théo.
