Philippe and Séverine Emile have been running their estate for decades against the current of the majority of Bordeaux in the region. The estate, twenty-five hectares, sells part of its production to two qualitative export trades, retaining for its own brand a significant part of the production. A small company that doesn't know the crisis... Bordeaux.

En 2002, Philippe et Séverine Emile décident de créer une nouvelle cuvée eu Château Manoir du Gravoux "Cuvée La Violette" pour imager l’arôme de merlot mûr. « Cette note couronne les plus grands vins rouges du Monde » rappelle Jean Lenoir dans son Nez du Vin. Et d’ajouter, excusez du peu « Elle est la récompense que seule une terre bénie du ciel peut produire. Romanée-Conti, Lafite Rotschild, Diamond Creek, Musigny, La Mouline partagent cette distinction qui les place parmi les plus recherchés du monde ».
Avant de pouvoir installer ces crus au sommet de la hiérarchie mondiale, il y a d’abord eu en Bourgogne des Moines cisterciens, là un Marcel Guigal en Côte-Rôtie. Sans ambition de l’homme le terroir demeure inconnu.
