Domaine Buno Clair - Clos de Bèze - 2014 - Chambertin

Red wine

Description

The color is dark garnet, intense, and clear, with deep highlights that reflect both youth and aging potential.
The complex and seductive nose, with aromas of black fruits (blackcurrant, morello cherry) dominate, accompanied by notes of licorice. A slight spicy touch (sweet pepper, clove) completes a refined bouquet typical of the great wines of the Côte de Nuits.
On the palate, the attack is silky and elegant, revealing great aromatic depth, with a return of ripe black fruits, supported by a fine but present tannic structure. The balance between acidity, structure, and alcohol is perfectly mastered, resulting in a full-bodied, harmonious, and powerful wine.
The velvety texture accompanies a long evolution on the palate, with a lingering finish of candied fruit, sweet spices, and a slightly smoky touch.
This grand cru already shows great potential, but will gain complexity with a few years of aging.

Know a bit more about the domain

Domaine Clair-Daü was founded in 1920 by Joseph Clair in Marsannay. After the First World War, he transformed the vineyard by encouraging winegrowers to replace Gamay and Aligoté vines with nobler grape varieties, such as Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. He also created Rosé de Marsannay, a rosé wine made from Pinot Noir, which helped the winegrowers prosper.

His son, Bernard Clair, further developed the estate, making it famous in Burgundy thanks to his rigorous selection of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Aligoté vines. In 1985, after the dismantling of Domaine Clair-Daü, Bruno Clair took over the family vineyards and founded Domaine Bruno Clair in 1979. He expanded his estate to 27 hectares, spread across 32 appellations in the Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits, including prestigious terroirs such as Marsannay, Corton-Charlemagne, and Chambertin Clos de Bèze.
Today, Domaine Bruno Clair is renowned for the quality of its wines, produced in an environmentally friendly manner, with manual harvests and meticulous soil cultivation.
